Fair goers urged to take heat precautions

With a heat advisory in effect for much of the week, Warren County A&L Fair officials are urging attendees to take proper precautions to ensure everyone has a safe and happy time.

High temperatures are expected to reach the 90s each day this week. Because of the predicted oppressive heat, the annual Senior Citizens Day event, traditionally held at the Clifford McClain Grandstands, will instead be held Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 8:30 a.m. at the Warren County Senior Center in Three Star Mall.

"Heat is one of the most dangerous weather conditions," EMS Coordinator and Warren County A&L Fair Director of Public Safety Joe Clark said. "Heat is a leading cause of weather-related injury and illness and is by far the most common fair emergency we encounter. We want everyone to be safe when they visit the fair. Be sure to wear comfortable, light-colored clothing, stay in the shade as much as possible and be sure to drink plenty of water. Hydration with water is vital."

Fair activities continue through Saturday, Sept. 19 with highlights for Monday, Sept. 14 including the Silver & Gold Band at 5:30 p.m., $25 unlimited ride armbands and the Fairest of the Fair pageant at 7 p.m.
