Gabbi Molloy went from helping Warren County contend at the Keith Maxwell Invitational to leading the Lady Pioneers to victory at Pebble Creek, saving her best round of the season for the end of a standout week.

The sophomore capped it by firing a season-low 82 Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Club, pacing the Lady Pioneers to a 12-stroke victory over Lincoln County as Warren County completed a sweep of its District 9-AA tri-match with Lincoln County and Shelbyville. The strong week earned Molloy the Main Street Journal’s Reddick Brown Ford WCHS Athlete of the Week award for Sept. 6-12.

Molloy’s 82 marked her best 18-hole round of the season by three strokes, surpassing the 85 she shot at the Cookeville Early Bird in August.

Her big week, however, started two days earlier on Warren County’s home course.

Molloy led the Lady Pioneers with a 90 Tuesday at the Keith Maxwell Invitational at McMinnville Country Club, helping Warren County finish fourth in a competitive field. The Lady Pioneers posted a team score of 187, finishing just one stroke behind third-place Upperman and six strokes ahead of District 9-AA foe Coffee County.

Molloy then took another significant step forward Thursday in Fayetteville.

Her 82 paced Warren County as the Lady Pioneers lowered their team score to 182 at Pebble Creek. Lucy Mulligan added a 100 and Sara Greer shot a 102 as Warren County finished comfortably ahead of Lincoln County’s 194 and Shelbyville’s 207.

The round continued a strong sophomore campaign for Molloy, who has regularly occupied the top of Warren County’s scorecard throughout the season. She previously led the Lady Pioneers with an 85 at the Cookeville Early Bird back on Aug. 10 and also fired a 40 to earn individual low-score honors in Warren County’s nine-hole victory over Coffee County and Lincoln County at WillowBrook Golf Club on Aug. 31.

Molloy has also played a key role as Warren County’s girls have lowered their scores with the postseason approaching. After shooting a 187 at the Keith Maxwell Invitational, the Lady Pioneers cut another five strokes from their total just two days later at Pebble Creek.

With the district tournament drawing closer, Molloy delivered her best round of the season at an opportune time, helping the sophomore earn Main Street Journal Reddick Brown Ford WCHS Athlete of the Week honors.
