White County commissioners are signaling a potential property tax break if voters approve a proposed sales tax increase in the upcoming referendum.

The county’s Steering Committee voted to recommend that any new revenue generated from the increase be used to lower property taxes, though the final decision would still rest with the full commission during the budget process.
