McMinnville resident and Smithville native Sidney “Sid” Lavoy Grove, Jr., 60, was born June 10, 1966 and died Sept. 12, 2026 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville following an extended illness.

A retired heavy equipment operator with TDOT and a member of Smyrna Church of Christ, he was the son of Bernice Bouldin Grove of McMinnville and the late Sidney Lavoy Grove, Sr. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by father-in-law, Osburn “Oz” Huntley.

He was married to Jennifer Huntley Grove of McMinnville on March 24, 1989. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Grove is survived by children, Tyler (Cassie) Grove and Emily Grove, both of McMinnville; bonus son, Hence Hale of McMinnville; mother-in-law, Ruby Huntley; brother-in-law, Joe Huntley; sister-in-law, Claudia (Andy) Scott; nephews, Justin (Kaitlyn) Scott and Carson Huntley; great-nephew, Bodie Scott; special aunt, Jewell Thomison and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026 in High’s Chapel with Jon Simmons and Slayden Rogers to officiate. Burial will follow at Smyrna Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at High’s.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the McMinnville Back to the Strip Blessings Program.
