Sparta
Sparta’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen has given the green light to a major investment in the city’s future, unanimously approving the start of a $7 million upgrade to the electric grid during Thursday’s meeting.
Mayor Jerry Lowery said the project will be carried out over the next five years and is aimed at keeping pace with Sparta’s continued growth in both population and industry. He explained that the decision to accelerate the timeline came after meeting with planners in recent weeks.
