More than 150 riders rolled into Sparta on Saturday morning for the annual Marty McFly Blue Light Ride, a fundraiser that continues to grow while helping make Christmas brighter for local children through the YMCA’s Shop with a Cop program.

Motorcycles filled Pearson Park before the police-led ride began, with participants traveling from across the region to support the cause. Organizers said proceeds from the event go directly toward the annual Shop with a Cop effort coordinated through the Sparta YMCA and local law enforcement, helping provide Christmas gifts and necessities for children in need throughout the community.

This year’s ride expanded into a full weekend of events. Festivities began Thursday night with Frank’s at Cane Hollow’s Blue Light Ride Poker Night, where participants competed in poker-style games and prize drawings to help raise money for the cause. The event featured giveaways, a grand prize poker table drawing and other fundraising activities, with all proceeds supporting Shop with a Cop.

The weekend continued Friday night with “Blue Light Ride Eve” at 8 Depot St., which brought riders and community members together for live music, cornhole, food and fellowship ahead of Saturday’s ride. The pre-event celebration also included cash giveaways and vendor support, helping build momentum heading into the main event Saturday morning.

The Blue Light Ride has steadily become one of Sparta’s more recognizable community fundraisers, blending a love for motorcycles with support for local families. Riders were escorted by law enforcement as they traveled through the Upper Cumberland, with blue lights leading the way.

Organizers and supporters say the impact of the fundraiser extends well beyond the ride itself. Money raised helps ensure children who may otherwise go without are able to experience Christmas shopping alongside officers and volunteers during the holiday season.

Saturday’s ride also featured giveaways and support from local businesses and sponsors, many of whom have backed the fundraiser for years. Community support has helped the event continue expanding, with participation numbers climbing again this year.

Saturday’s turnout reflected that growth, as riders packed the park before heading out under clear skies for rhw 2026 Blue Light Ride weekend in Sparta.
