Every season is bluegrass season in Sparta, but one evening each month is set aside to celebrate the music that has long been woven into the community's identity.
On the third Friday of each month through October, residents and visitors gather around the downtown amphitheater for a free bluegrass concert series that has become a staple of summer evenings in Sparta. The performances offer more than live music — they cap off a full evening of community activity as the monthly Sparta Green Market fills nearby Metcalf Park with local makers, growers and vendors.
