What began as a reported “joy riding” call quickly escalated into a stolen vehicle case, DUI arrest and alleged assault on law enforcement — with deputies describing a chaotic and combative scene.
What began as a reported “joy riding” call on Mack Floyd Road quickly turned into a much more serious situation — one that left a deputy allegedly assaulted and a 19-year-old facing multiple charges, including a felony.
According to an affidavit filed by White County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Timothy Satterfield, deputies were dispatched April 18 after a caller reported that Anthony J. Clouse had taken a vehicle and driven off. When deputies arrived, they made contact with the caller and another individual, both 19 years old, who told officers Clouse had driven away in the vehicle. Authorities later determined the situation was not just unauthorized use — but that the vehicle had been stolen from the person who reported it.
