White County High School soccer got off to a fast start Tuesday night in their season opener when they hosted the Monterey. The Warriorettes scored three goals in the first half and never looked back as they kept pouring on the offense on their way to a 7-0 blanking of the Wildcats.  

"I am loving to see multiple people scoring. It’s definitely a team effort right now," Warriorette head coach Madison Mason said after the game, "and that’s hard to compete against."  

White County juniors Kaydence Redomon and Anna Joliff combined to put the ball in the back of the net three times, but it wasn't just the returning players who had hot feet on Tuesday night. Freshman Sami Benson pushed the ball past the Lady Wildcat keeper three times for a hat trick in her WCHS debut, and fellow freshman Nealy Scarola drilled another ball into the net for a score as well. 

Mason said it wasn't just the scoring she was impressed with in the season opener. Her squad has worked hard this offseason to be in a position to improve on last year's record-setting run that found them in the regional tournament for the first time in program history. She knows that the road back will be a long, uphill battle as teams won't be overlooking them on their schedules this season.  

"Right now, I think tonight we showed hustle," she said, acknowledging that putting the pressure on early is important, but being able to keep the intensity for a full 80 minutes is going to be the true test of this team. "We won almost every 50/50 ball and got physical." 

 The Warriorettes will have a full week to prepare for their next battle - a trip to York Institute where they will be tested by a perennial contender in the battle for post-season positioning. White County's schedule will get into a more regular routine, something they are used to from previous seasons. Starting next week, they will find themselves on the pitch twice weekly for the month of September.
