It didn’t take long for the White County Middle School Warriorettes to take care of business Tuesday night. Sparta rolled past the Monterey Wildcats with a dominant 19–1 win in just three innings.

White County wasted no time getting the offense going, plating six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Three straight walks followed by three consecutive doubles brought five runners across the plate before Monterey could even record an out. The sixth run scored when Kambrie Tayes crossed home on a wild pitch.

Monterey managed to answer with a run in the top of the second inning, but that would be all the Wildcats could muster as White County quickly shut the door.

The Warriorettes then blew the game wide open in the bottom of the second, scoring 13 runs in a marathon inning that saw 17 batters come to the plate. With the score already stretching out of reach, White County began making substitutions after pushing the lead to 12 runs.

Monterey attempted to spark something in the top of the third with a leadoff single, but the threat ended quickly thanks to a defensive gem from third baseman Bella Madden. A sharply hit line drive found Madden’s glove, and she immediately fired the ball to Josslyn Wright at first to double off the runner. Madden then recorded the final out of the inning when another hard-hit liner came her way, which she handled easily.

With the TMSAA mercy rule in effect, the game was called after three innings due to the Warriorettes holding a lead greater than 15 runs.

White County scored its 19 runs on 12 hits and five walks in 25 plate appearances.

Kambrie Tayes pitched a complete game in the circle for the Warriorettes, allowing just one run on three hits and one walk while striking out three.
