Denny Wayne Robinson serves as the County Executive of White County, Tennessee, leading with integrity, vision, and a steadfast commitment to the community he proudly calls home. In this role, he focuses on economic development, workforce advancement, education, solid waste modernization, and improving the efficiency of county government.
A strong advocate for the Upper Cumberland region, Denny represents White County on numerous boards and committees. He serves as Chairman of the Tri-County Railroad Authority, the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport Board, the Tennessee Shortline Alliance, and the Center Hill Rural Planning Organization. He also serves as Regional Vice President for the Association of County Mayors and sits on the board for the Tennessee County Services Association. Additionally, he is Treasurer of the Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Board, helping guide local business growth and tourism expansion.
Denny’s leadership extends across the community through service on the boards of the Upper Cumberland Development District, Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency, the White County AntiDrug Coalition, and the Sparta/White County Activity Center. Governor Bill Lee also appointed him to the Launch TN Board of Directors, where he supports statewide entrepreneurship and innovation.
Passionate about improving quality of life for White County residents, Denny has focused heavily on infrastructure, finance, tourism, recreation, public safety, and business development. His accomplishments have earned recognition at the Governor’s Conference “Anatomy of the Deal” and at the Highlands Economic Partnership annual meeting. He was also honored as the first-ever recipient of the Spirit of Sparta Award.
Before becoming County Executive, Denny served eight years as a County Commissioner, chairing both the Budget Committee and the Financial Management Committee, as well as the White County Emergency Communications District. A lifelong learner, he is a graduate of White County High School, Tennessee Tech University, the University of Tennessee Economic Development Course, TVA’s Rural and Economic Development postgraduate program, the Appalachian Leadership Institute, and most recently he was accepted to the Porter Development Initiative Leaders Academy at the Owen Graduate School of Management, Vanderbilt University.
A U.S. Army and National Guard veteran, Denny was named Distinguished Honor Graduate of the U.S. Army Field Artillery Survey School.
Before public service, he spent over 20 years managing a successful business at Ed Rogers Chevrolet. That experience and witnessing White County lose major employers sparked his drive to study policy, economics, and long-term planning so he could help restore economic stability. His leadership has since helped bring more than 100 new businesses, expanded broadband, improved infrastructure, and driven record workforce growth.
Rooted deeply in faith and family, Denny and his wife Sheila are active members of First Baptist Church in Sparta. They are the proud parents of Danielle Hall (and her husband Damien) and Rhett Robinson (and his wife Lena), and adoring grandparents to Nolan and Mason.
With a heart for service and a belief in White County's future, Denny Wayne Robinson continues working every day to ensure the community thrives for generations to come.
