WCHS marks Constitution Week with schoolwide lesson

White County High School marked Constitution Week with a schoolwide look at the document that has served as the foundation of the United States government for more than two centuries.

Sept. 17 marked the 239th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. As part of the observance, WCHS used Warrior Media to share the history of the Constitution with the student body, including an explanation of its different sections and how the document was developed.

The observance also included the presentation of a Constitution Week proclamation at the school.

Danny Blitz, representing the Rock House Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, presented the proclamation to WCHS counselor Robert Officer and Principal Greg Wilson, along with students Bryson Hogg, Matthew Wilson, Haylee Neal, and Jacob Dover.

The Rock House Chapter is the local chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Constitution Week is observed annually from Sept. 17-23, beginning on Constitution Day, which commemorates the signing of the Constitution in Philadelphia on Sept. 17, 1787.
