The White County Middle School golf team picked up a sweep om Thursday, with both the boys and girls teams finishing on top against Avery Trace and Monterey.
White County’s boys were led by Stone Whitson, who turned in the low round for the team with a 39. Gaige Evans and Benji Johnson each carded 42s, while Kyson Taylor followed with a 43 and Connor Delong added a 44. Logan Phillips closed out the scoring with a 51, and Henry Farley posted a 54.
That group effort proved to be the difference, as White County’s top scores stacked up well enough to secure the team win over both opponents.

The girls side told a similar story.
Piper Heady led the way with a 35, the low score for the White County girls, while Ava Elrod followed with a 40. Rowan Hudson added a 51 and Karsyn West finished with a 55, giving White County enough depth to claim the girls team win as well.

The latest results show a step forward for both groups when compared to earlier rounds this week.
On the boys side, Whitson shaved significant strokes off his previous 47, while Johnson (42) improved on an earlier score of 43. Delong also dropped a stroke from his previous 43, and Taylor made a notable jump from 49 down to 43. While Evans's score went up a two points, his 42 was good enough to keep him near the top of the leaderboard.
Likewise, for the girls, it was a change in who finished at the very top. Heady improved from a 36 to 35, while Elrod followed up her earlier 35 with a 40 as the two swapped spots on the girls' leaderboard. Hudson held steady at 51, and West trimmed a couple of strokes off her previous 57.
The White County Middle School golf team will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Algood before coming home to host both Prescott and Upperman on Thursday.
