Warriorettes roll through three-game stretch

White County Middle School’s sixth-grade Warriorettes put together three wins in four days last week, scoring 152 points while allowing just 44 in victories over Prescott, York Institute, and Pickett County.

The stretch began Sept. 21 with what proved to be the closest of the three games, although White County still came away with a comfortable 56-40 road win over Prescott.

White County built its advantage early, scoring 15 points in the opening quarter and 25 in the second to take a 40-23 lead into halftime. Prescott cut into that margin with a 12-9 third quarter, but the Warriorettes answered with seven points in the fourth to close out the 16-point victory.

Emma Cloyd led the scoring in that one with 16 points, while White County got contributions throughout the lineup. The scorebook also shows Cloyd and Hadley Sims among the team's leaders in assists, while the Warriorettes created a number of extra possessions on the defensive end.

There wasn’t nearly as much drama one night later.

White County returned home Sept. 22 and overwhelmed York Institute, 55-1, holding York without a field goal for the entire game.

The Warriorettes spread the scoring around, with 11 different players putting points on the board. Mallie Clark led the way with nine points, followed by Hadley Sims with eight. Kalliyan Nash and Gianna Hernandez scored six apiece, Scarlett Hanna added five, and Grace Springs, Jessa Horton, Anna Elrod, and Ayla Baker each finished with four. Roxy Daniel scored three, and Cloyd added two.

White County’s defense was just as active. Daniel was credited with five steals, while the Warriorettes collected rebounds and forced turnovers throughout a game in which York had few opportunities to put points on the board.

After a day off, the Warriorettes were back on the road Sept. 24 and turned in another dominant defensive performance, defeating Pickett County, 41-3.

That gave White County three wins in the span of four days, including back-to-back games in which the Warriorettes held their opponent to three points or fewer. Across the three outings, White County averaged just over 50 points per game while allowing fewer than 15.
