Upperman slips past Warriorettes, 1-0

White County and Upperman battled through a scoreless first half Thursday night before the Lady Bees found the one goal they needed to hand the Warriorettes a 1-0 loss.

The Warriorettes kept Upperman off the board through the opening 40 minutes, with White County’s defense and midfield holding up their end throughout the night. The difference came on the other end of the field, where White County was unable to turn its opportunities into a goal.

“Our defense and midfield did their job. Our strikers just could not find the back of the net tonight,” White County head coach Madison Mason said.

Mason also singled out freshman Sami Benson for her performance.

“Shoutout to Sami Benson, who played her heart out and left it all on the field,” Mason said. “She will be a key player for us in the future.”

Upperman’s second-half goal ultimately stood as the difference as White County came away on the wrong side of the 1-0 final.
