The White County High School wrestling team has been making some noise this year, and on Saturday, they won two matches during the District Duals Tournament.

White County took a 42-18 win over Cumberland County and a 42-24 win over Livingston Academy. The wins came thanks to some great performances by the Warriors, including six of whom won their rounds. Darrin Candle, Jack Foster, Lincoln Kugler, Josiah Johnson, Isaac Most, and Matthew Stoglin all recorded victories on Saturday.

Despite the great outing for the Warriors, White County did not advance in the tournament, having lost their other three matches. They took big losses to Stone Memorial, 6-68, and Upperman, 17-65. White County also lost a close match, 36-48, to York. While their dual season is over, the Warriors are just getting started in individual season with the district, regional, and substate tournaments more than a month away.

In fact, one Warriorette had a great performance on Saturday. Monika Garcia won both of her matches by pin. While her pins didn’t count toward the team’s dual scores, it was a great way to keep the wins coming in as she builds seeding for the postseason.
