Warriorettes sweep top three spots in golf win

White County’s girls golf team continued its strong run Tuesday, picking up another win with all three Warriorettes turning in the three lowest girls scores of the day at Tennessee Tech’s Golden Eagle Golf Course.

Lenzie Golden and Piper Heady shared medalist honors after both shooting even-par rounds of 70. Ava Elrod finished just two strokes behind them with a 72.

With only two scores counting toward the team total, Golden and Heady combined for a 140 to give the Warriorettes a 10-stroke win over Cookeville, which finished at 150. Macon County had only one female golfer competing and did not record a team score.

On the boys side, White County finished behind both Cookeville and Macon County.

Logan Holland led the Warriors with a 79 and was the only White County golfer to break 80. Lucas Phillips followed with an 81, Jack Carpenter shot an 82 and Tripp Tollison added an 88 to complete White County’s team score. Bray Roberts shot an 89 in individual scoring.

Cookeville’s Levi Johnson posted the low round of the boys competition with a 2-under-par 68, while Macon County’s Hampton Parker finished one stroke behind him with a 69.

Cookeville won the boys team competition with a 288, followed by Macon County at 292. White County finished third with a 330.

The White County golf teams will return to action Tuesday with a trip to McMinnville Country Club to face Warren County. They will follow that with a Thursday match against Livingston at Hidden Valley Golf & Country Club.
