The Tennessee Association of Fairs Conference begins today, and the White County Agricultural Fair is officially on the clock. Having won the Division 1A title last year, White County’s fair is in the running to be crowned the Champion of Champions at the conclusion of this week, but first, there is still plenty of work for the fair board to do.

During the 2025 fair, which was held in Sparta from August 29 – September 6, White County was judged on how well they incorporated agriculture into their daily events and displays. They were also judged on cleanliness of the fairgrounds, their Pick TN product display, and the overall layout of the fairgrounds. State judges submitted scores to the TAF and White County’s fair board was required to submit a report on everything that was done with the year’s event, deemed “In Our Blue Ribbon Era.” A panel of judges will review the reports, and the Champion of Champions will be announced this Saturday night.

While they await the big decision, White County fair board members are at the annual conference as they have exhibits entered in a variety of other categories as well. There will be awards for floor display, fair shirt, pageant stage decor, Pick TN product display, promotional items, ribbon display, and even an ugly fair sweater contest. And, of course, White County’s Fairest of the Fair, Hannah Haley, will be competing in the state pageant this week as well.

Follow along all week as the Main Street Journal – Sparta brings you updates from this year’s Tennessee Association of Fair Conference.
