Norvell goes yard twice as White County rolls to 14-0 shutout

The White County High School Warriorettes filled up the box score Tuesday night — 13 hits, 14 runs — but the headline belonged to Kylie Norvell.

Norvell blasted not one, but two home runs to power White County to a 14-0 shutout win over Cumberland County, giving the Warriorettes their second win in as many games.

She didn’t waste any time setting the tone. Norvell led off the bottom of the first with a home run over the left field fence. Anna McCulley followed by ripping a double into left, and Addison Howell drove her in with another hard-hit ball to quickly push the lead to 2-0.

The Warriorettes broke things open in the third.

A single and two walks loaded the bases before Annie Burrier cleared them with a 3-RBI triple. Kaylee Sanders added another run with an infield ground ball, and the lineup kept turning. Abbi Hutson reached on an error, Addison Norvell singled, and Kylie Norvell worked a walk to reload the bases. McCulley drove in two with a deep infield grounder, and Callie Phillips followed with a hard-hit ball to center to plate another, stretching the lead to 8-0.

Then Norvell delivered again.

In the fifth inning, she launched her second home run of the night — this one to center field — putting an exclamation point on an already dominant performance.

White County wasn’t finished.

Two walks and a single loaded the bases for Burrier, who lined out but still picked up an RBI. AK Wallace followed with a double, Miah Jo Swindell added a run-scoring single, and Hutson capped the inning with a 2-RBI double to push the lead to 14-0.

Burrier handled the rest from the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out eight.

White County will be back in action Thursday against Stone Memorial as the Warriorettes look to keep the momentum rolling.
