Each week, the Main Street Journal – Sparta's  Sports Calendar brings together a complete lineup of athletic events across White County. Look for key matchups from local high schools, middle schools, as well as competitive youth-league teams. Designed as a one-stop guide for families and fans, this regularly updated schedule makes it easy to follow every game, meet, and matchup happening across the community. 

This Week in White County Sports – Feb. 9 - 14  

Tuesday, February 10  

    • Basketball - White County High School Warriors and Warriorettes  will travel to Van Buren County to take on the Eagles in a non-district matchup. Despite not having district implications, there will be plenty of pride on the line in this county-line battle. Varsity games begin at 6pm. 

Friday, February 13 

    • Basketball - White County High School Warriors and Warriorettes basketball teams return home to take on Livingston Academy. Sparta fans should pack Roy Sewell Gymnasium for this district matchup. Sparta’s Warriorettes are currently ranked second in the district while the Warriors are ranked fourth. Both Livingston teams currently sit in fifth place. Varsity games begin at 6pm. 
    • Archery – The White County Warriors are hosting this weekend. The Warrior Shootout is happening at White County Middle School with both 3D and Bullseye events taking place. 
    • Softball – The White County Middle School Warriorettes are hosting the Glenn “Buckshot” Sims Play Day Tournament. The tournament will be taking place at the WCMS field at 300 Turntable Road in Sparta. Games will take place Friday, Saturday, and Monday – keep an eye on the Warriorettes’ Facebook page for scheule updates. 
    • Volleyball – The YMCA Youth Volleyball league enters their third week of games. Games are played at Bear Cove Baptist Church Gym located 1590 Country Club Road in Sparta. 

Saturday, February 14 

    • Baseball – The White County Middle School baseball team starts pre-season play this weekend as they host a play day. Support the Warriors – at the gate and on the field. Games begin at 9am and continue all day Saturday and Monday. Admission is $8. 
    • Softball - The White County Middle School Warriorettes are hosting the Glenn “Buckshot” Sims Play Day Tournament and play continues all day. 
    • Basketball – Sparta Youth Basketball rounds out their final week of regular season play with a full schedule of games being played at Northfield Elementary, Findlay Elementary, and Woodland Park Elementary gymnasiums. Winter weather has the league still playing catch-up, so there will be games both Saturday and Sunday this weekend.  

Open Registrations: Leagues, Camps & Local Events 

Beyond scheduled matchups, this part of the calendar lists active registration opportunities throughout White County. Whether it’s youth leagues, single-day events, races, camps, or tournaments, use this list to stay connected to what’s open for sign-ups right now. 

  • Warrior Winter Brawl - February 21, Sparta YMCA (123 Moore Street). An event sanctioned by Powerlifting America, serving as a unique partner meet where athletes with special needs lift alongside other open lifters. Cost: Special Olympic Lifters, $45; Open Lifters, $125. 
  • 2026 Hardwood Basketball Classic – This basketball tournament for both boys' and girls' teams will take place at White County High School April 10 – 12. Second through 12th grade teams can sign up now by contacting Coach Michael Dodgen at (931) 252-4299 
  • Special Warriors Soccer Program - Registration for this program designed for anyone cognitively disadvantaged and looking for an all-inclusive opportunity is now open. Registration for athletes ages 2 - 14 will continue until April 19. Games and Clinics will begin May 30. Cost: FREE. Location: Soccer Fields on Walker Street in front of White County Health Department.
