Each week, the Main Street Journal – Sparta's Sports Calendar brings together a complete lineup of athletic events across White County. Look for key matchups from local high schools, middle schools, as well as competitive youth-league teams. Designed as a one-stop guide for families and fans, this regularly updated schedule makes it easy to follow every game, meet, and matchup happening across the community.  

This Week in White County Sports – March 1 - 7   

Monday, March 2 
  • WCHS GIRLS Basketball – The Warriorettes will play in the regional semi-final game where they will face the Stone Memorial Lady Panthers. The game will be played in Watertown and broadcast on YERT 92.7 FM and www.mainstreetmedia.llc/sparta 
  • WCHS Baseball – The Warriors will officially open their season with a home game against Pickett County at 5pm 
  • WCMS Soccer – The Warriors will travel to Dunlap to take on Sequatchie County at 6pm. 
  • WCMS Softball – The middle school Warriorettes will be on the road to start the week against the team from Algood. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm. 
Tuesday, March 3 
  • WCHS BOYS Basketball – The Warriors will play in the semi-final round of the regional tournament where they will face the Cumberland County Jets. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:45 pm at Watertown and will be broadcast on YERT 92.7 FM as well as www.mainstreetmedia.llc/sparta 
  • WCHS Baseball – The Warriors continue their first homestand of the season with a game against Whitwell. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 pm at Ethan Roberts Ballpark at Culley Field. 
  • WCHS Softball – The Warriorettes Junior Varsity Team will take on the team from Kingston at Glenn “Buckshot” Sims field at 5pm. 
  • WCHS Tennis – The Junior Varsity tennis team will take on Upperman at the Cookeville Community Center beginning at 4pm. 
  • WCHS Soccer – The Warriors will begin their season on the road as they head to Smith County to take on the Owls at 6pm. 
  • WCMS Softball – The Warriorettes play the first of a two-game homestand. They start by hosting Monterey at 5pm. 
  • WCMS Baseball – The Warriors have an away-home series against Algood this week. The first game, on the road, is Tuesday with first pitch at 5pm. 
Thursday, March 5 
  • WCHS Baseball – The Warriors will close out their homestand with a game against Warren County. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm at Ethan Roberts Ballpark at Culley Field. 
  • WCHS Softball – The Warriorettes hit the road to take on Clay County with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 pm. 
  • WCMS Softball – The Warriorettes will wrap up the week, and their homestand, by facing Algood for the second time this week. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm. 
  • WCMS Baseball – The Warriors complete their series with Algood today. This game is played at home with first pitch scheduled for 5pm. 
  • WCHS Flag Football - The Warriorettes will take on Blackman at home this week. JV is scheduled to kick off at 6pm with Varsity to follow at 7pm. 
Friday, March 6 
  • WCHS Baseball – The Warriors will hit the road for a game against Cannon County to wrap up their first week of in-season play. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm. 
  • WCHS Softball – The Warriorettes travel to Monterey to close out the week. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30pm. 
  • WCMS Soccer – The Warriors finish the week on the road again with a 6pm game in Algood. 
  • Warrior Archery - The White County Archery teams will shoot at Dibrell Elementary.
Saturday, March 7 
  • WCHS Tennis – The Warrior and Warriorette varsity teams will participate in an all-day tournament at Fairfield Glade.  
  • Warrior Archery - The White County 3D teams will be in action at Meigs County High School

Open Registrations: Leagues, Camps & Local Events  

Beyond scheduled matchups, this part of the calendar lists active registration opportunities throughout White County. Whether it’s youth leagues, single-day events, races, camps, or tournaments, use this list to stay connected to what’s open for sign-ups right now.  

  • White County Warrior Youth Football and Cheerleading – Signs ups begin March 1 with dates already set for unform fitting and preseason workouts.  

 

  • White County Babe Ruth – Sign ups are continuing through March 13. For more information contact White County Youth Baseball and Softball at whitecountyyouthsports@gmail.com 
  • 2026 Hardwood Basketball Classic – This basketball tournament for both boys' and girls' teams will take place at White County High School April 10 – 12. Second through 12th grade teams can sign up now by contacting Coach Michael Dodgen at (931) 252-4299  

 

  • Special Warriors Soccer Program - Registration for this program designed for anyone cognitively disadvantaged and looking for an all-inclusive opportunity is now open. Registration for athletes ages 2 - 14 will continue until April 19. Games and Clinics will begin May 30. Cost: FREE. Location: Soccer Fields on Walker Street in front of White County Health Department.
