Morrison resident and Dekalb County native Dave Herrin, 91, was born Dec. 21, 1934, and died May 3, 2026, at Unity Medical Center in Manchester following an extended illness.
A retired welder with Carrier Corporation, a lifelong farmer and member of the Morrison Church of Christ, he was the son of the late Warren F. and Martha Bell Steele Herrin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Herrin; daughter Diane Roberts; sister, Francis Cantrell; brothers, Oscar Paul, Charlie, Frank, Jim, Ned, Robert Lee and Don Herrin, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Peyton Cantrell, Teddy Slatton, Wade Farley and Carlie Burgess.
Mr. Herrin was married to Alice Josephine Hobbs on June 25, 1955, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by daughter-in-law, LaJuanda Herrin; son-in-law George Roberts; grandchildren, Brent Herrin, LaJuanda Renee King, Krystle Herrin, Taraa Zahn, Aaron (Hollie) Roberts, Jessica (Crockett) McPeak; brother, Ben (Pearl) Herrin; sisters, Clara Nell Slatton, Armanda Burgess and Linda Farley; sister-in-law, Judy (Foster) Turner.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday May 8, 2026, in High's Chapel with Chris Perry officiating. Burial will follow in the Bascom Cemetery in Morrison. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at High's.
