A Wednesday morning single-vehicle accident caused morning commute traffic traveling along Old Kentucky Road in White County to be diverted.
A report from the White County Sheriff’s Office, the responding law enforcement agency, stated that a 2003 red Dodge Neon registered in White County was found overturned and resting on its roof near the 7000 block of Old Kentucky Road when first responders and emergency personnel arrived.
The driver, identified as Tyler Rice, was traveling southbound in the Dodge Neon when his vehicle crossed the center line and exited the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a ditch and a culvert, causing it to overturn before coming to a final resting point in the ditch line.
Rice, who had extricated himself from the vehicle before emergency services arrived, sustained what the initial report described as “apparent, non-life threatening” injuries. White County EMS transported Rice to the Sparta Hospital for medical evaluation.
