I was born and raised in the Northfield community on my family’s farm, and I’m proud to still call it home today. After graduating high school, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business from Tennessee Tech, a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Tennessee–Knoxville, and an MBA from the University of Tennessee–Martin.
Today I farm in partnership with my dad and brothers, where we grow corn, wheat, and soybeans on 3,000 acres. Our operation is headquartered on the family farm right here in the Northfield community. Many of you may know our family from Farm Day, where we host all the 4th graders from across the county at our farm each year. On our home farm, my wife Terra and I also grow corn, soybeans, and sweet corn and host families who come out for pictures and to enjoy the farm.
Terra and I have two children, Colson, who is 5, and Attie, who is 2. Being a father has strengthened my commitment to making sure our community remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
I’ve been blessed to serve in several leadership roles in White County and across Tennessee. I previously served as a director on the White County Soil Conservation Board and the White County Farm Bureau Board, and I also served on the White County Ag Committee. I was a member of the Tennessee Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers State Committee and recently completed a term on the Tennessee Corn Promotion Board, where I served as chairman.
Currently, I serve on the nominating committee for Farm Credit Mid-America, am a member of the Tennessee Agriculture and Forestry Leadership Program, and serve as a deacon at The Forge Church in Sparta.
I am running to represent District 7 as your County Commissioner because I believe in servant leadership. It takes good people willing to step forward and serve to make a difference in our community — not for recognition or personal gain, but because it’s the right thing to do.
I also believe strongly in giving back. This community raised me and helped shape the person I am today. It has given my family the opportunity to live, work, and operate a business here. With two young children, I feel a responsibility to help ensure that they — and all families in White County — have the same opportunities for the future.
While I am running as an Independent, my values are firmly rooted in conservative principles. Faith, fiscal responsibility, protecting our children, creating economic opportunity, and defending individual freedoms are values that guide my life and will guide my decisions as your County Commissioner.
I would be honored to serve the people of District 7, and I humbly ask for your vote in the August general election.
