Seeing a need and stepping up to fill it, Chris Chalfant, general manager of Reddick Brown Ford, has partnered with Main Street Media to present Fill a Ford – a food drive benefitting the Warren County Emergency Food Bank.

The lingering effects of the federal government shutdown has increased demand for food even more than usual this year, taking its toll on the supplies at local food banks.

“In three days last week, we went through the amount of food we usually use in one month," Helen Owens of the Warren County Emergency Food Bank said during the Nov. 13 edition of Town Talk on WBMC 97.7 FM. "We see anywhere from 10 to 15 families per day. People are in need and they are scared. Hopefully the community will continue stepping up the way they've been doing. We're very grateful for all of the donations."

The public is invited to drop off non-perishable food items in a Ford truck at Reddick Brown Ford at 5917 Manchester Hwy. or at Main Street Media at 230 W. Colville St. from now through the end of 2025. Warren County EMS will also be bringing back its Fill the Ambulance drive this year. All donations will go to the Warren County Emergency Food Bank and will stay in Warren County. Donations, frozen items and turkeys will also be accepted at the food bank office at 522A Sparta St. Financial contributions may be dropped off at the food bank or deposited at First National Bank in the Warren County Emergency Food Bank's account. The food bank is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

"Things are tough right now, and we want to be able to help the community and these poor souls that are struggling," Chalfant said. "My wife and I have been talking about what we can do to help, and she said something about a canned food drive. I said we could do that, but we would need help. Then Greg (Roberson) of Main Street Media said they'd partner with us. When he called and told me about Helen's situation at the food bank, it brought me to tears to know there's that many people in need. We're going to do this through the end of the year and see how it goes. One thing I have found out about Warren County is how everyone unites to help those in need and I'm really proud of that."

Also partnering in the effort are the Warren County High School class of 2026, the WCHS Interact Club and The Rotary Club of McMinnville. Donors at Reddick Brown Ford are invited to scan the QR code at the Ford truck to register for a chance to win free tickets to the Eric Church concert in Knoxville March 5, 2026. The Warren County Emergency Food Bank can be contacted at (931) 474-3663.
