McMinnville resident and Woodbury native James Randall Barnett, 74, was born March 29, 1952 and died May 7, 2026 at Alive Hospice in Murfreesboro following a three-month illness.

A professional painter and of the Baptist faith, he was the son of the late John R. and E. Ruth Simmons Barnett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Judy Neufell.

Mr. Barnett is survived by son, Nathan Barnett of Woodbury; special friend, Martha Conley Barnett of McMinnville; bonus son and daughter, Herbert and Tina Conley of McMinnville; special family friend, Hannah Conley; great-grandson, Kylan "Knot Head" Conley Cantrell and nephew, L. Lowe.

James loved fishing, bonfires, hanging out with family and friends, listening to old rock music, cookouts and all outdoor adventures. He was a kind loving man who will be loved and missed dearly.

Mr. Barnett will be cremated. No service or visitation will be held at High’s.
