McMinnville resident and Dekalb County native Janie Johnson Adams, 79, was born Oct. 26, 1946 and died April 28, 2026 at Willow Branch Health and Rehabilitation in McMinnville following an extended illness.

A retired Insurance agent for Southern Insurance Group and a member of the Church of God, she was the daughter of the late Thurman and Dorothy Jones Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandsons, Kaimen Collins and Chase Perry.

Janie was married to Charles Adams of McMinnville on Sept. 1, 1977. In addition to her husband of forty eight and a half years, she is survived by daughters, Kim Dykes and Cherri Taylor, both of McMinnville; sons, Kent (Betty) Perry and Charlie (Kelli) Adams Jr., both of McMinnville; grandchildren, Kaitom (Broc) Matthews, Hunter (Ashlee) Adams, Tyler Adams, Joshua Turner, Lara (Juan) Vanloo and Daniel (Maddie) Sheets; several great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia (Charles) Yelton of McMinnville; niece, Kristi (Danny) Sharpe and nephew, Tony (Paula) Rigsby.

She graduated in 1964 from Dibrell High School and was a loving Christian lady who loved everyone.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2026 in High’s Chapel with Jeff Page and Jarvis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville. Visitation will be Saturday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon until time of service at High’s.
