Gov. Bill Lee spent part of Tuesday in White County as part of a statewide tour aimed at connecting directly with Tennesseans, stepping away from the Capitol to meet people where they live and work. Joined by First Lady Maria Lee, the governor visited the downtown square, stopping in local businesses, speaking with residents and taking time to engage with the people who make up the community.

Lee’s visit was not centered on announcements, but on conversations — with local officials, emergency personnel and, just as importantly, the small business owners and citizens who were out and about during the day.

That approach, he said, is intentional.
