Nashville resident and Kosciusko, MS native Joe Ivey, 68, was born June 21, 1958 and passed away Sept. 11, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness.

A Business Professor with Lipscomb University and a member of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ in Brentwood, TN, Mr. Ivey was the son of Nelma Ivey of Jackson, MS and the late Joseph Marlin Ivey.

Mr. Ivey was married to Malinda Bray Ivey on Dec. 29, 1978. In addition to his mother and wife, Mr. Ivey is survived by children, Shane (Natalie) Ivey of Arrington, Tenn., Jenny (Matt) Shoemaker of Franklin and Sarabeth (Payton) Hurst of Pomfret, VT; grandchildren, Madelyn Ivey, Murphy Ivey, Brooks Ivey, Anna Lauren Ivey, Addy Shoemaker, Milly Shoemaker and Hayes Shoemaker; sister, Lori Ivey of Madison, MS as well as several nieces and nephews.

Joe was a lifelong learner and avid reader, earning both an undergraduate degree from Freed-Hardeman University and an MBA from Texas A&M. He dedicated his later years in life to helping others learn, and one of his greatest joys was seeing the young people he mentored succeed. He was truly a lover of life and enjoyed spending his free time traveling with both his family and friends. Above all, Joe was a man of great faith, and his tremendous generosity touched the lives of countless people.

A private family graveside will be held at a later date.
