The weather hasn't cooperated with the Main Street McMinnville organizers of Main Street Live this year. For the second consecutive week, the start of the 2025 free summer concert series has been canceled due to the impending threat of inclement weather. Tonight's scheduled performer was JC Cole, a Johnny Cash tribute artist, who was making the trip to McMinnville from New Jersey.

Main Street McMinnville organizers made the call just before noon Friday to cancel due to predictions of rain.

"When it rains hard, the parking lot and grass can flood quickly. This makes it unsafe - and often impossible - for our sound crew to set up thousands of dollars-worth of equipment," Main Street McMinnville Executive Director Jennifer Flatt Meredith said. "Part of our contracts with the bands and vendors is that we have until noon Friday to make any weather-related decisions. This allows us to factor in not only local weather, but travel time for our artists - many of whom are coming from several hours away - and the safety of everyone involved."

Set-up for each week's show begins at 4 p.m., meaning rain in the area during that critical window could put the entire event at risk.

While the Park Theater is sometimes used as an alternative venue during inclement weather, the Park is currently set up for this weekend's Warren Arts performances of "Mamma Mia."

Next week, Main Street Live will hope to make its 2025 debut with classic rock from Legacy.
