Just weeks after the White County Commission approved a resolution prohibiting data centers and cryptocurrency mining facilities, activity at a property on Pleasant Hill Road has left residents asking whether the county could soon face its first test of that new policy.
Large shipping containers have recently been placed on property near the dead end of Pleasant Hill Road beyond the Fawn Forest subdivision. Heavy equipment has also been seen moving dirt at the site, prompting numerous calls and messages to Main Street Journal from residents wondering what is being built.
Those questions led the Main Street Journal - Sparta to begin investigating the project.
