Rebecca Nicole Walker, 46, of Winchester, passed away on April 22, 2026. Her passing is met with profound sadness by all who knew and loved her.
Rebecca was born on July 16, 1979, in McMinnville to Jimmy and Paula Barnes. She was known for her kind spirit, beautiful smile, and the warmth she brought into every room. She had a natural gift for making people laugh and was often the one others turned to for comfort, encouragement, and joy. Rebecca especially loved to playfully “trick” people into believing something just so she could laugh and enjoy the moment—her sense of humor was one of her most memorable traits, a gift she shared with her father.
She had a deep love for her family and found happiness in life’s simple, meaningful moments. Rebecca especially loved animals and had a tender heart for rescuing and caring for them. She enjoyed gardening and flowers—sunflowers were her favorite—and found peace in nature, whether at the lake, on the farm, or by the creek. She loved creating special memories for her children, from hosting big birthday celebrations to joyfully decorating for every holiday, especially Halloween and the gatherings she so enjoyed.
Rebecca was a compassionate and creative soul who consistently put others before herself. She had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help anyone in need, reflecting a life full of kindness and generosity.
Rebecca grew up at Ivy Bluff Church of Christ and more recently attended church in Winchester, where she lived. Her faith in Jesus was a steady source of strength and peace throughout her life. She lived out her faith in the way she loved others, offered encouragement, and cared deeply for those around her. She found comfort in Psalm 46:5: “God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.”
Her most treasured role was being a mother to her children, whom she loved deeply and wholeheartedly.
She is survived by her children, Henry, Emma, and Ben Walker; her mother, Paula Barnes; her sister, Jennifer Mu (Mike); her brother, Jimmy Ray Barnes, Jr.; her nephew, Mason Mu; and her niece, Madison Mu. She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Ray Barnes, whose steady presence was a source of strength in her life, as well as her paternal grandparents, CD and Lucille Barnes, and her maternal grandparents, Paul and Carolyn Haley.
Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in the promise of eternal life and the peace of knowing she is now in the presence of her Savior. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming weeks. Details will be shared once arrangements have been finalized.
