A Sparta man is facing multiple charges after authorities say a routine traffic enforcement detail turned into a high-speed attempt to avoid a stop on Highway 111 earlier this week.
According to an affidavit of complaint filed in White County General Sessions Court, the incident occurred on April 20 when Sparta Police Officer Austin McCoy was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 111 near Fred Hill Road. The officer reported observing a Ford Mustang traveling at 98 miles per hour in a posted 45 mph zone.
