The Sparta Youth Basketball League wrapped up its final regular season games this weekend with plenty of action in the gyms before the postseason tournament begins.
In the Rookie League, it was Tru North taking the win over Christpoint Church. Tru North’s 14 points came thanks to a team effort from Eliza Tindle, Beau Reed, Adelynn Holland, Kinsley Passons, and Emma Garrett. Christpoint might not have got the win, but they played their best game of the season behind the perseverance and hustle of Samuel Dolin who was determined to keep the game on track. Conner Randolph had a three-point play and added a pair of free throws while Thomas Steelman dropped four points after taking the ball away from Tru North multiple times.
In other Rookie League action, it was Sparta Services getting the 8-4 win over Rice and Aphena Pharma Solutions took a 12-9 win from Boyer. Taylor was on the high end of a 12-5 scoreboard with Armstrong taking the loss. Center Hill Sports Marina scored 20 points while Victory Lawn Care could only net eight. Rocky Pop Co got the 10-8 win over Cannon Farms, and Hitchcock edged out The Wacky Lemon, 8-4.







In Training League Girls action, Delaney Logging got a big 16-4 win thanks to London Foster’s defense keeping American Roofing Company away from the basket. Sullivan’s Disposal won a low scoring game, 8-5, over Page while White Tail Property took the win over Sonic in the highest scoring game in the division, 22-12 after Harper Bottoms dropped 16 through the net.
On the boys’ side of the training league, it was Hitchcock doubled the score on Rawly Mae Farms and went home with the 16-8 win despite the hustle from Rawly Mae’s Blaine Holman, whose steals kept the margin from being any wider.
Other games included Collins’s 17-12 win over Sims, Spartan Services' 18-5 win over Sonic, and Smith’s 16-7 win over Rawly Mae Farms. There were a couple of close games in the Training League Division as well with Weldon edging out Smith by a score of 23-20 and Johnson getting past Brasel, 17-15.

The buckets were flowing in the Junior Girls league as First Class Auto scored 50 points in a win over Napa Auto Parts. Southern Roots took a 25-20 win from K&J Electric with Destiny Young hustling on both ends of the court. Tru North was on the wrong end of a 37-30 scoreboard. While Smith might have gotten the win, Tru North’s Hadley Sims scored 21 points herself. And Possitive Connection finished the season undefeated as Stormi Flatt dropped 14 points through the net and Mallory Poss scored her four points after fighting hard all season to find the inside of the rim.

Junior Boys teams played on both Saturday and Sunday. Bechtal played twice, losing their first game by a score of 61-25 to Johnson and then winning their second by a score of 22-14. Flatt took a 42-11 win over Johnson while Walker edged out American Roofing Company by a single point. Meeks lost by 20 to Smith, Collins beat Young by 10, and Walker took a 41-33 win over Murphy. It was Hitchcock over Young, 38-28, and Meeks over Flatt with a 44-23 final score. Smith took a 52-19 win over Young and Johnson put up a huge 63 points in their win over Murphy.
The scoreboards stayed lit up in the senior leagues. On the girls' court it was American Roofing Company taking the 33-28 win over Rodgers Farms while Roberts got the 40-26 win over Absolute Care.
In Senior Boys action, American Roofing Company went 1-1 on Saturday getting a 43-29 win over Sliger before falling to Hart by a score of 51-33. Flatt downed Gooch 41-35, and Smith went over Angell with a 53-41 final score. Gooch rebounded from their first loss and dropped 54 as they took the win over Hart who scored 48. Weldon put huge points on the board, getting an 81-24 victory over Collins.
With the regular season finished, anything can happen over the next week. Every game this week will be “win or go home” and it’s anyone game as the Sparta Youth Basketball teams move into bracket play leading up to Saturday’s championship games.
