It didn’t take long for things to tilt in White County’s favor Thursday night.

After a 30-mile trip down Highway 111, Livingston Academy arrived in Sparta, but both the Warriors and Warriorettes controlled the courts from the start, turning a former district matchup into a one-sided showing as postseason play inches closer.

The Warriorettes claimed a 6-1 win, while the Warriors didn’t drop a single match, sweeping their way to a 7-0 victory.

White County didn’t just win—they dictated the pace across nearly every court. Several matches never got competitive, with multiple players finishing off 8-0 “bagels” and 8-1 “breadsticks,” a sign of how cleanly the Sparta squads handled the night.

Ainslee Goff, Katelyn Howard, Jagger Osborne and Seth Smith each turned in 8-0 wins, while Lorelei Bouldin, Howard, Ethan Wiles and Ben Brogden added 8-1 victories to the scoreboard.

The most competitive moment of the night came in doubles, where Lorelei Bouldin and Sadie Benningfield had to fight their way out of an early hole. Trailing 5-1, the pair adjusted mid-match and flipped the momentum, winning seven of the next eight games to secure an 8-6 comeback win that drew a reaction from both sidelines.

Even with the lopsided scores, the tone of the match stayed where coaches wanted it.

Coaches Topher Wiles and Amy Hawkins emphasized that the non-district matchup was about more than just results.

“This game pushes us to our mental limits,” Wiles said, noting both teams made a point to “display the best sportsmanship possible.”
