White County High School athletes picked up points across the board Monday night at York Institute, turning in a mix of podium finishes and steady performances as the outdoor track and field season is taking shape.
One of the top two finishes of the night came in the boys long jump, where Isaac Littles cleared 19 feet, 5 inches to take first place and give the Warriors their lone event win of the meet. The other was in the girls 3200-meter run where Kayce Wright outran the field to land on top of the podium with a time of 14:28.
White County also made its presence felt in the relays, an area that often shows where a team is progressing as a group. The boys 4x100 relay team turned in a third-place finish with a time of 48.77, while the Warriorettes’ 4x800 relay team claimed second place, crossing the line in 12:18.00.
On the individual side, the Warriorettes picked up points in the 400-meter dash, where Olivia Revange and Miya League both finished inside the top five. Revange placed fourth with a time of 1:11.17, and League followed closely behind in fifth at 1:12.45.
League added to her night in the field events, finishing third in the long jump with a mark of 14 feet, 2.5 inches and another podium finish for White County.
In the distance events, William Martinez and Kason Price represented the Warriors in the 1600-meter run, competing in a crowded field as White County continues to build experience in the longer races.
The White County track and field team is continuing to find its footing, somthing that will hopefully result in some more podium appearances as the season moves forward.
