William David "Joe" Powers was born July 4, 1949 and died April 28, 2026 from an extended hard-fought battle with cancer and a brief stay at NHC.
He was a McMinnville resident and Van Buren County native. He was a retired supervisor for 40 years at Oster. He loved to travel with family and friends and loved his flowers and his gardening.
He was the son of the late Hubert and Clara Mae Powers of the Rocky River community. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Carl Powers (Carmen), Betty Powers Rowland, Sidney Edward Powers, Molly Powers Minton (Cecil) and Lloyd Powers.
A devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife, Evolyn A. Grissom Powers. They were married for 56 years. They have one daughter, Michelle D. Powers Weber (Darrell); two grandchildren, Sarah R. Weber Childers (Dillon) and Steven Weber; great-granddaughter, Boston Childers; sister, Mary Powers Davis (Carl) and lots of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at noon Friday, May 1, 2026 in High's Chapel with Roger McCann, Rickey Minton and William McCormick officiating. Burial will follow at White Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. until time of service at High's.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations may be made to Meals on Wheels or the McMinnville Gideon Camp.
