Phat Chhim, 106, of McMinnville, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on Nov. 25, 1919, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Phat was a man of great character and resilience. After graduating from high school in Cambodia, he became a business owner, operating a small printing shop. He eventually brought his hardworking spirit to McMinnville, where he became a beloved member of the community.

Phat was a man of many passions. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of life: tending to his garden, raising chickens, and spending quiet hours reading and writing. An avid sports fan, he closely followed the NBA, FIFA World Cup, and Olympic Games, always staying engaged with the world around him. Above all, Phat was defined by his kindness and his unwavering devotion to his family. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved.

Phat is survived by his four children, Ket Chhim, Cheav Hong Chhim, Eang Suong, and Eang Meng. He also leaves behind a legacy through his six grandchildren: Kimlong Chhim, Seyha Chhim, Sovannarith Chhim, Sovannara Chhim, Nara Kimnay Suy, and Chad Sithera Phan; and his six great-grandchildren: Kevin, Lisa, Thomas, Kelly, Freddie, and Marcus Chhim.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his caring heart and the quiet strength he provided to his family for over a century.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. Burial will follow at New Union Cemetery on Highway 30 in McMinnville at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
