The White County High School Warriorettes didn't have quite the same explosive start they enjoyed in last week's season opener, but once they found their rhythm Tuesday night, they looked every bit like the team that opened the year with a shutout victory.

White County pulled away in the second half for a 4-1 road win over York Institute, to get their second win in as many games.

The Warriorettes carried a slim 1-0 advantage into halftime after a first half that lacked their usual pace and intensity. Head coach Madison Mason said the difference after the break came down to the team getting back to the style of soccer they expect from themselves.

"Tonight we saw what happens when we don't start with our usual fiery energy," Mason said. "But we picked it back up and started playing our game in the second half."

That adjustment quickly showed on the scoreboard.

White County came out of the break playing with far more pace and aggression, turning a one-goal game into a comfortable three-goal victory. York found the net once after halftime, but the Warriorettes had already seized control and answered with plenty of offense of their own.

Four different players accounted for White County's scoring Tuesday night. Sophomore Makayla Sullivan joined freshmen Nealy Scarola and Livia Dobbs in the scoring column, while junior Anna Knupp also found the back of the net.

While White County's offense came alive after halftime, Mason also credited freshman goalkeeper Sophia Austin for helping lock down the win with what she called four "amazing saves."

The Warriorettes will look to keep their unbeaten start intact Thursday when they return home to host Cannon County.
