Warriorettes show progress in preseason test under Farr

The countdown to opening night is officially on for the White County High School volleyball team.

With the regular season just a little over a week away, the Warriorettes closed out preseason competition Saturday at Upperman High School. Against four quality opponents—Livingston, Central Magnet, Gordonsville and Tullahoma—White County claimed at least one set from each team while continuing to build confidence under first-year head coach Courtney Farr.

"We had a really good day overall," Farr said. "Today gave us a chance to compete against some different styles and see where we are right now."

Several players stood out throughout the day.

Ashlyn Selby and Alli Beth Stebing continued to provide steady play in all six rotations, contributing both at the net and in the back row. Their versatility allowed White County to stay balanced regardless of who was on the floor.

Harper Broyles turned in one of the day's biggest performances, making an impact from both outside hitting positions while also creating pressure from the service line with a series of strong serves.

Defensively, Rhaleigh Cloyd and Kaylin Cunningham anchored the back row, consistently keeping balls alive and helping extend rallies. Their defensive effort gave White County opportunities to transition into offense throughout the day.

The Warriorettes also received solid play from setters Miah Jo and Mallori Swindell, who distributed the ball well and kept multiple hitters involved rather than relying on a single offensive option.

At the net, middle blockers Madison Henry and Lanie Naaktgeborne gave opponents problems with their size and timing, putting together several strong blocks that slowed opposing attacks and forced difficult shots.

For Farr, the results were encouraging, but the focus remains on growth rather than wins and losses in August.

"We definitely still have things we need to clean up, but I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing," Farr said. "Each time we step on the court, we're learning a little more about who we are as a team and what we need to do to keep getting better."

Saturday's play day closed the book on White County's preseason schedule. The matches won't show up in the standings, but they gave Farr one final opportunity to evaluate her lineup before the regular season begins. The Warriorettes left Upperman with positive momentum and a clearer picture of the foundation they're building under their new coach.
