The White County Middle School golf teams continued to build momentum Monday afternoon, with both the boys and girls squads finishing in first place in a tri-match against DeKalb and Smith County. It was another strong step in what has become a consistent stretch of solid play.
On the boys side, White County posted a team score of 162, comfortably ahead of DeKalb (199) and Smith County (201). It was another balanced performance from top to bottom, something the Warriors have leaned on in recent matches.
Lane Dickerson, making his return afer a basketball injury had him sidelined at the start of the season, led the way. Dickerson finished tied for the lowest score of the day on the boys' side with a 39. Close behind, Gaige Evans and Stone Whitson each turned in rounds of 40, tying for second place overall. That trio at the top is giving White County a reliable scoring core, with each player consistently hovering near the lead. Benji Johnson followed with a 43, while Kayson Taylor (47) and Connor DeLong (49) rounded out the lineup as the Warriors maintained separation throughout the match.
The girls team matched that performance—and then some—with another decisive win, finishing with a team score of 70 to outpace DeKalb (98) and Smith County (117).
Ava Elrod once again set the pace, firing a 31 to claim the lowest round of the day. Elrod has been steady match after match, and Monday’s performance continued her run as one of the most reliable scorers in the field.
Piper Heady added a 39 to take second place, continuing her own consistent stretch of play, while Rowen Hutson (52) and Karsyn West (55) helped round out the scoring.
White County will be back on the course on Thursday when they participate in another tri-team match facing off against Avery Trace and Smith County at the Golden Eagle.
