The White County High School softball team made the trip to Franklin County on Tuesday night, but the long drive didn’t bring much reward. The Warriorettes were held scoreless, falling 5-0.

Franklin County broke through in the bottom of the second when its shortstop sent a two-out solo home run over the left-field fence. The Rebels added to the lead in the third, stringing together three straight singles before a sacrifice fly pushed the advantage to 3-0.

Another solo shot — this one off the bat of Franklin County’s first baseman — extended the lead in the fifth. Later, White County’s lone error of the night, paired with a single, allowed one more run to cross.

White County had its chances. The Warriorettes put runners on base in all but two innings, including back-to-back singles from Abbi Hutson and Addison Norvell in the seventh to spark a late push. But they couldn’t find the timely hit, leaving the scoreboard empty.

Senior Mabry Taylor got the start in the circle and went the distance, throwing 63 pitches — 48 for strikes. She allowed five runs on eight hits while striking out two.

White County will close out the regular season Monday night at home against Warren County. The last meeting between the two was suspended due to lightning in McMinnville and never resumed, meaning the result did not count despite the Warriorettes trailing at the time.
